Kijjambu Family

The girls are all doing well, growing and developing. The triplets are in their top year of pre-school and will start Primary 1 this year around their 5th birthday in September.

Priscilla is now 9 and in P4 and loves looking after everyone.

Deborah is well at the moment and is managing with general heath issues and medications.

Gabriel’s is recovering well from recent health issues and he will soon be able to drive again.

Church

With the schools being on holiday the church is a bit quieter for this period. The weekly programmes continue with Youth and Women’s groups, Worship practice, Bible studies and Prayer meetings. The church teaching will focus on Discipleship and Prayer this year.

A senior citizens’ dinner was held where 80 elderly people attended. It is a vision that God gave Gabriel a while ago after visiting one of the elderly ladies in the community. Gabriel said:

Finding her with no essentials like soap, paraffin, salt, etc… I was moved, and I asked God for guidance. After praying about it for a while, I felt the need to stand with these elderly people.  After moving in faith to follow the voice of the Lord, God provided. And we managed to feed 80 folks a Christmas meal, and they all went home with small gifts.

10 of these people are now in church membership.

Pastors’ Conference

Plans are underway for the annual Pastors conference in May 5-10th May. The speakers will come from the UK, USA and also from neighbouring African countries.

Alongside this conference there will be the Children’s holiday club for around 500-600 children

Farm

220 acres of land have been purchased for the new farm.

35 acres are used for growing maize. The second crop will be harvested next week. There has been some drought so the full amount to be harvested is not yet known.

There are plans to clear more land and grow eucalyptus trees which can be sold as timber for poles. (Other avenues for eucalyptus are being investigated eg. oil and medicinal uses.)

2 dams providing water for the land have been dug. Work will start for irrigation soon with pipes and a pump to be purchased. The bore hole for a well is also in place and another is due to be done. (German funded)

Digging the borehole:

The smaller farm at Luwero continues with livestock and small crops being grown. This provides for the schools and  community as well as providing education for the children’s curriculum.

A Christmas mission was held for 4 days at the farm for the local community.

School

The new term commences on 3rd February through to end of April. Children will return to Luwero on 2nd February.

There are 576 primary and 250 secondary pupils along with 46 staff. The team are looking forward to the new term with lots of activity and programmes including sports.

Water tanks

New clean drinking water tanks have been installed. This system has been long awaited, and now that they have electricity, it can go into the schools. This is a major addition which we thank God for.

Clinic

Lydia the nurse continues her work in the clinic and in the local community . She herself is due a baby in 3 months time.

Visitors to Luwero

A group from England (Leyland) is planning to visit in July and with a young man from Germany

We are grateful to friends who are able to make these visits. Such visits are a great source of encouragement to the team at Luwero and become a blessing to those who visit and sample life at Luwero.
