Electricity has reached Luwero
Family
The Kijjambu family are all well and thank everyone for their continuing support.
School
Both primary and secondary schools are having a good term with adequate teaching resources. The term ends on 25th August and schools return on 18th September. Pupils in P7 and S4 have a two week period for exams during the current academic year. The Ugandan government is imposing new taxes on private schools. Gabriel has met with local education officials to find out what impact it will have upon our schools at Luwero and has made a strong case for the taxes, if applied, to be as minimal as possible given the positive effect the schools make upon the local community.
Electricity has reached Luwero!
After years of waiting, the national electricity grid has reached Luwero. Electricity poles and cables have now reached the boundary of the secondary school which will enable distribution of electricity across the whole site. A 3-phase electricity supply now connects our project to the network.
Youth Camp
Luwero’s Annual Youth Camp takes place between 4th and 9th September. The camp will be resourced entirely by local speakers this year
Land
The acquisition of 219 acres of farmland is progressing well. An independent consultant agriculturalist has favourably reported to the Board upon the suitability of the land, a surveyor has completed the necessary surveys of the land establishing the necessary boundaries with adjoining land-owners, and lawyers are completing the checks upon title deeds, land registration and transfers, etc. The current owner is allowing Gabriel early access to the land to commence site clearance and the planting of trees and crops, prior to completion of all the legalities.
Visit by Gabriel to UK 2023
Plans are underway for Gabriel’s 2023 UK visit. It is expected that he will be in the UK between 23rd September to 15th October and 14th November to 17th December. Between 16th October and 13th November Gabriel will go to Germany to meet with our German partners Christliches Kinderhilfswerk Luwero, Uganda (CKLU). Details of Gabriel’s itinerary, once finalised, will be made available. Anyone who wants Gabriel to visit their organisation whilst in the UK should contact the office via our website.

Copies of our 2024 Luwero Calendar will shortly be available. Copies can be obtained by ordering via our website. Once again we will be in contact with representatives in local churches for bulk orders.
