Gabriel has recently returned from Germany where he spent 3 weeks meeting supporters and developing contacts with churches and other groups interested in the work at Luwero. We are grateful to the friends in Germany for making Gabriel’s trip possible.

The current school term ends on Friday 24th April. Classes have been well attended this year. The primary school continues to thrive. Deborah is being assisted in her role as head teacher allowing her to rest as she awaits the birth of their expected twins in a couple of months. A recently received gift will allow the construction of a new, much needed, kitchen and dining facility for children at the primary school. The dining room will cater for approximately 200 children. S1 to S5 classes are now enjoying their new facilities at the secondary school. Please remember the children in your prayers both during term and holiday periods. Approximately 110 children are now sponsored by friends in the UK and Germany. New Ugandan government regulations are being introduced regarding the status and registration of orphans to avoid fake orphanage registration and the work of extremist groups. Luwero is complying with the regulations.

Building the churchMembers of the church at Luwero have begun constructing the external brick walls of their new church. Walls are now at window height and will reach ring beam height by the end of the month. A church from East Kilbride is supporting the efforts of the church at Luwero.

Luwero’s 5th annual Pastor and Church Leader’s conference takes place 11th to 15th May. The chosen theme is ‘God’s plan for mankind’. As in previous years two church leaders from Scotland, Stuart Smith and Ernie Bayton, will travel to Luwero to speak at the conference in addition to other local speakers. As well as the conference a separate children’s programme is planned throughout the week led by a 9-strong volunteer group from Stuart Smith’s own church in Glasgow.
